I thought I would start a thread for XBOX 360 users, for discussion, hints, links, news, etc.

I own an elite with a 120g hd, to begin things off I'll tell you what I've been playing!
Fable2, Dead Space, FarCry 2, Saints Row 2, GTA 4

Check out the Official Site for news, one interesting piece of news is the new Dashboard Update coming in 5 days!

Best Regards,

Lorin santa

I have the old one -- In fact, I was one of the first who beta test the system... i was so happy then when i got my invite.

I am dying to get the 360 now that it cost 200 bucks, but with an infant, no way... I could only dream! affraid sunny

Best feature I liked was the talking part... you get to meet cool folks and some assholes as well!

Hi Ish,

I'm mostly a PC guy, last console for me was a PS2, Ive been watching the prices go down for the 360, and gave in! Very Happy

It's also a early santa gift for the kids as I will get a few games for them too, they don't get to touch dad's PC too often. Shocked

Well, I'm a big gaming fan, although I'm pretty fussy about which games I buy.

Always a big Nintendo fan, but I despise what the Wii is doing to the gaming scene, and it's the first Nintendo console I haven't owned.

I buy a Playstation when a Gran Turismo game comes out, but other than that, it doesn't get used by anyone, and just gathers dust.

Xbox360 has been a wonderful console for me, and Xbox Live is exceptional.
I have always been mainly a PC gamer too, but the Xbox360 has changed all that, and online play has never been so good. Very Happy

Good call on this thread Lorin.
I'm generally not online much during the summer, but with the cold winter nights approaching, I'll be on again soon.

Look out for the gamertag Krush Brother

My main games on the 360:

  • Forza Motorsport 2
  • Project Gotham 4
  • The Orange Box (HalfLife 2, outstanding!!!)
  • Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
  • Gears of War
  • Splinter Cell Double Agent
  • RaceDriver Grid
  • Fifa 08
  • Hitman Blood Money
  • Saints Row
And soon to be

  • Gears of War 2
  • COD 5
Not long now to wait for the new Dashboard.
Should be interesting. bounce

Hi Smileyman,

I was also a Nintendo fan from way back, but this Wii thing just turns me off, If I had one drop in my lap I would put it on E-bay before you could say numbchuck!!

Hi All,
Never been a console bloke myself, although my four sons have one.
Don't know about the US or Canada, but the games seem a bit pricey (compared to PC) in the UK.
Cheers
Pete.

I agree.
Apart from the occasional game that I feel is worth getting straight away, I generally wait and pick up a second hand copy from Gamestation or Blockbusters, saving around £10 to £15. Very Happy

Yeah, I like Gamespot too, but my favourite has to be IGN.
They have good video reviews, and most are available free, like so:

I'm looking forward to the new dashboard.
Should be good fun setting up our 3d avatars, and should be interesting to see what other goodies they've added too.

The operating system(dasboard)update is now available! study
It took me 4 min. on broadband to download.

Enjoy making your new avatars, I made one for wifey and my kids too, great fun!
Also worth mention is the new features like being able to install your games to the harddrive now, 3d avatar photo chat to share pics with up to 7 friends, and many more superb options!

Enjoy,

Lorin

PS.The server loads are high, so expect some slow downs, and kicks off LIVE till things catchup! study

Hehe.

I beat the rush early this morning before I went out (around 7am) while all you Americans and Canadians were still in bed, and got it before you. lol!

About 4 mins here too on Broadband.

Great fun setting up the avatars.

Incidentally, when I pre-ordered GTA4 earlier this year, I was given 500 Microsoft points (which I spent on Foo Fighters songs for Guitar Hero Very Happy ), but I've just noticed that they have credited those 500 MPs back onto my account, probably something to do with the upgrade.

So I'm going to see what new goodies I can spend them on. cheers

Get a performance boost by installing games to the hardrive
One of my favorite new
features of NXE is the ability to install games to your hard drive.
(And my 120GB drive is now finally approaching fullness.) This gives a
slight increase in loading speed to most games. But even better, the drive
only spins briefly when the console checks to see if the disc is in the
drive, and after that it stops, making your console whisper-quiet
during gameplay. To install a game on your hard drive, scroll to the My Xbox channel with the disc inserted. You should see the current game in the entry on the channel. Press Y to bring up the Game Details screen. Now select Install to Hard Drive.
After the copy completes, you'll still need to put the disc in your
Xbox 360 to play, but the game will automatically load from the hard
drive instead of the DVD.

I hadn't looked at that at all since the NXE update, but just tried it out with Saints Row and it really does keep the old 360 nice and quiet doesn't it?

A lot less wear and tear on the life of the DVD drive this way too. Laughing

Cheers.

Hi Smiley,

Yes I have to give them some credit for adding that feature, say did you ever get gears 2 yet?

Sometime this winter we should do some co-op together buddy! Cool

Later,
