Video Drivers Empty
PostSubject: Video Drivers   Video Drivers EmptyMon Jan 12, 2009 1:43 pm

I started this thread for the purpose of Video Card Driver related discussion, helpful links, new releases and your experiences with them, this goes for beta and/or WHQL ForceWare or other!
ATI or NVIDIA included....

Currently I have a EVGA 8800GTS SSC with 640mb of ram.
I'm using 185.20 Beta drivers and run a program called RivaTuner v2.22 to force 100% cooling as my card is factory overclocked and can run hot.

Specs
DirectX version: 10.0
GPU processor: GeForce 8800 GTS
Driver version: 185.20
Stream processors: 112
Core clock: 576 MHz
Shader clock: 1350 MHz
Memory clock: 900 MHz (1800 MHz data rate)
Memory interface: 320-bit
Total available graphics memory: 1919 MB
Dedicated video memory: 640 MB
Bus: PCI Express x16

One site that I find very informative is guru3d, you could call it one stop shopping for PC Video driver info and downloads! I test alot of driver releases and will share my finding in this thread for anyone interested!

Hi Guys and Gals

Here's some of my specs (Need to look up the data for the rest):-

DirectX version 9c (Windows XP)
ATI Sapphire Radeon X 1650 Pro.
Driver update age:- 2 months
256 GDDR3 Memory.
PCI Express x 16 lane, 32 bit bus.
Digital and HDD link to Digital flat-panel monitor.
12 pixel shader processors
Self Overclocked, Cooling by ATI Catalyst Control Centre.
400 Watt power supply (Upgraded from original).

Personal Note:: I switched to ATI from Nvidia after a dispute over Nvidia warranty many years ago.

Cheers
Pete

One thing most gamers know is the newest drivers are not always the best drivers, I plan on falling back to something in the 17x.xx range as the new betas are causing problems with CTD with Fallout 3 and I've noticed a FPS hit with TS2009 SP1 while forcing 4xAA. affraid

I also recomend a driver cleaner app and ccleaner in safe mode beetween driver installs to keep things clean, a disk check never hurts either! study
