Planet of the Apes Prequel in the Works

quote: cs
"Last month, CHUD reported that 20th Century Fox had a script in the works titled Genesis: Apes, which is essentially a remake of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. The site said that the project is the story of Caesar, the first ape with speech who started the events that led to a world where monkeys were on top.

Now, they're
reporting that Fox's Tom Rothman talks about the possible prequel in between showings of the "Planet of the Apes" movies on Fox Movie Channel this weekend.

"We are very close at Fox on a new Apes script- this one a kind of prequel story before the first story, with a return to the social thematics that mark the first one, but with an entirely contemporary setting - Earth 2009," Rotham reportedly says."

Planet of the Apes Prequel in the Works

Hi Ish, / Guys,

I'm not sure about these pre-sequels. I can see the idea behind them, more money, but I would like to see things unfold naturally. 'Lord of the Rings' for example, in the book world 'The Hobbit' was first, an adventure story, which also introduced most of the characters, Glandaff, Etc. It would be pointless bringing out that in film now, as we would know the end of the story, if you know what I mean.

On the subject of Movies. What are your three favorite directors?
Mine are :-

  1. Spielberg
  2. John Ford
  3. Hitchcock

Cheers

PostSubject: Exclusive: First Public Enemies Pictures: See Depp and Bale in Mann's latest   Sun Nov 30, 2008 7:05 pm

quote: EM
"It's one of the most exciting films of next year, and we have the first images of Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in Michael Mann's Public Enemies.
Described as a sort of Heat II, the film tells the story of charismatic criminal gang leader John Dillinger (Depp) and determined lawman Melvin Purvis (Bale), the FBI agent tracking him down. Also in the cast is Marion Cotillard as Dillinger's girlfriend, Channing Tatum, Giovanni Ribisi, David Wenham, Leelee Sobieski and Emilie de Ravin, with Billy Crudup as the legendary J. Edgar Hoover."

Hmmm, let's see, the movies I have in my collection....

I'm a big action fan, I like actors such as Arnie, Sylvester Stalone, Stephen Segal, Jean Claude Van Damme etc

I don't have a big collection but I have All Star Wars episodes (I'm a big fan of Star Wars), Predator, Terminator 3, Blade 2 with Wesley Snipes, RoboCop, Mortal Kombat the movie.

I don't go to the cinemas that often, the last time I went was to see Batman Dark Knight.

I like action movies too, but I find most of them are a little too hollywood, and tend to forget about a storyline or plot.

Love the Predator movies, especially the first one, most of the "Alien" movies, and all the Die Hard movies.
Even Die Hard 4.0 lived up to the earlier versions.
While we're on the topic of Bruce Willis, Fifth Element is pure genius.

Hello Col, and welcome aboard!!!

Me too, I got all of the Star Wars Collection. I recall the 1977 star wars, in which my mother took me and my sister ... i was six years old. My mother passed away this June, so it brings back flashbacks.

I pretty much agreed with you on all except for Jean Claude Van Damme ... the only movie he was good in was blood sport and Universal soldier.

Also, do you know there's a terminator 4 coming out in June? I'll post some info about it tomorrow, etc Rambo 5 is rumor as well. Not too mention more Predators, etc ...

Yeah, huge huge movie fan here ...
Ok, need sleep .. take care now

TDK Best Picture?

"For some people (myself included) nothing would be sweeter, than watching Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas walk up to the podium come Oscar-time and accept the venerable for Best Picture for THE DAR KNIGHT. Many say it can't be done--either because it is undeserved, or because a true masterpiece will never trump the steel clutch of tradition. That tradition being the notion that the esteemed members of the would refuse to acknowledge a--based on a comic book no less--as something more than in explosions and one-liners. When clearly, all who saw the, recognize it as something much greater.

The forward thinking folks at DarkCampaign.com have taken it upon themselves to make sure that this film is not ignored come voting time and have created a superb website and accompanying to remind voters and the public alike, how truly profound and all-encompassing this film really is. Kudos guys, kudos. "

I seen the new batman movie and thought it was great, Heath Leger was simply amazing as the joker, It's a shame we lost such a talented man. Crying or Very sad As for Bale as batman (Micheal Keaton is Batman)

As for the last Rambo movie, I believe it was the best one yet, and hope Mr. Stallone has one more in him, I loved it! bounce

My 2 cents,

Lorin

I can't knock the first Rambo ... For me that's still the best ... It's just him with the thought of his friends all long gone ... it's very sad!!!

I do agreed with you in that Rambo 4 is better than 2 and 3, by far!! It gave hi character a passive demeanor that was lost in part 2 and 3!!

Batman have made over 1 billion dollars wroldwide... Warner brothers will re-releases it this January I have read (milking the cow to death)!! However, I must say this is the best Batman movie.

They Live lives! remake

If you pressed me to make a list of my favorite movies from the 1980s, I'd have to think that John
THEY LIVE would be very close to the top. It's just genius on a lot of levels from ssic (that was recreated shot-for-shot Park"). You knew with a this iconic it would eventually get the remake treatment and that day is here. Universal and Strike have acquired the remake rights to the though no writer or director are attached at this point. Universal and Strike are also on a remake of John Carpenter's THE THING. While you might be skeptical that a film of THEY LIVE's status is being remade, remember that Universal and Strike previously remade another horror classic, DAWN OF THE DEAD, that turned out quite well and launched the of Zack Snyder.

Check out this trailer guys ... Aside from the movie real life events, for me, revolution from a man always means communism for its' people! Just my 2 cents!

http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808403435/video/10924831

Ernesto "Che" Guevara (June 14,[1] 1928 – October 9, 1967), commonly known as Che Guevara, El Che, or simply Che, was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, politician, author, physician, military theorist, and guerrilla leader. After his death, his stylized image became a ubiquitous countercultural symbol worldwide.
As a young medical student, Guevara traveled throughout Latin America and was transformed by the endemic poverty he witnessed. His experiences and observations during these trips led him to conclude that the region's ingrained economic inequalities were an intrinsic result of monopoly capitalism, neo-colonialism, and imperialism, with the only remedy being world revolution. This belief prompted his involvement in Guatemala's social reforms under President Jacobo Arbenz, whose eventual CIA-assisted overthrow solidified Guevara's radical ideology.
Later, in Mexico, he met Fidel Castro and joined his 26th of July Movement. In December 1956, he was among the revolutionaries who invaded Cuba under Castro's leadership with the intention of overthrowing U.S.-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista. Guevara soon rose to prominence among the insurgents, was promoted to Comandante, and played a pivotal role in the successful guerrilla campaign that deposed Batista.[4] Following the Cuban revolution, Guevara reviewed the appeals of those convicted as war criminals during the revolutionary tribunals.[5] Later he served as minister of industry and president of the national bank, before traversing the globe as a diplomat to meet an array of world leaders on behalf of Cuban socialism. He was also a prolific writer and diarist, composing a seminal manual on the theory and practice of guerrilla warfare, along with an acclaimed memoir about his motorcycle journey across South America. Guevara left Cuba in 1965 to incite revolutions first in an unsuccessful attempt in Congo-Kinshasa and then in Bolivia, where he was captured with the help of the CIA and executed.
Both notorious for his harsh discipline and revered for his unwavering dedication to his revolutionary doctrines, Guevara remains an admired, controversial, and significant historical figure. As a result of his death and romantic visage, along with his invocation to armed class struggle and desire to create the consciousness of a "new man" driven by "moral" rather than "material" incentives,[6] Guevara evolved into a quintessential icon of leftist-inspired movements as well as a global merchandising sensation. He has been mostly venerated and occasionally reviled in a multitude of biographies, memoirs, books, essays, documentaries, songs, and films. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century,[7] while an Alberto Korda photograph of him entitled Guerrillero Heroico (shown), was declared "the most famous photograph in the world."[8]

AVATAR

James Cameron gave a keynote presentation at the 3D [color:ad47=#006400! important][color:ad47=#006400! important]Entertainment

Summit today, and took aim at Tim Burton, who is filming Disney’s upcoming 3D adaptation of Alice in Wonderland using 2D cameras. Burton plans to convert the footage to 3D in post production, a decision that has angered and baffled the 3D community. “It doesn’t make any sense to shoot in 2D and convert to 3D,” Cameron said.

The Titanic filmmaker later attacked the industry’s decision to release 3D [color:ad47=#006400! important][color:ad47=#006400! important]films on DVD/Blu-ray with the old red and blue anaglyphic glasses. According to FirstShowing, Cameron said that such releases are “stunting 3D growth,” and hurting the progression of the format. Amen. It’s going to take a little while for the public to accept 3D films, and its going to take [color:ad47=#006400! important][color:ad47=#006400! important]Hollywood a while to perfect the art of 3D filmmaking, and the release of old technology is counterproductive to the cause.
MarketSaw was also able to confirm that a movie trailer has yet to be cut for AVATAR as not enough footage is completed. Cameron claims he hasn’t spoken to Fox about trailer placement but that there will be many opportunities in terms of 3D movies over Spring/Summer 2009.
