Ishie

This should prove to be interesting lol!

I think we agree about the same Ish about all the negative hoopla over at that other forum, a couple members don't even have the game yet and at least one seems to think that they can run a route(any route) with the new view distance slider at full, this is not so, unless you have a pimped out NASA rig or something, ohh well I'll just be happy to see it in the mailbox.

Like I said in another thread I can see 3 Service Packs to sort out such a game, but I have nothing against developer updates, it shows the ongoing loyalty to the product and it's customers to release small fixes, seen it in many many other games, some release and then never read there own forum after they count the money.

Cheers

Also, to consider, and allow me to add:

Today's games need more ram, faster HD's, more powerful video cards, for the game to work and feel smooth in your computer.

I speculate that those who complain by any product are usually people that does not invest in their PC. They went today's game to run on their 1990's PC. Fact is, TRS09 works well on this PC, which is only 3 years old. With a baby now very difficult to upgrade, so I'm just sitting back on this PC for now.

If you have the latest tools then TRS09 should run well on your PC!! Very Happy

Even though my computer is about 4 years old now, me and my dad replaced most of the parts on it like Hard drives, graphics cards etc a while ago, so shouldn't be too slow for me.

Hi Jamie,

There may be an issue with SP1 some say, try running it without, as the last beta ran good for most, hope the fixes keep coming till it's stable...

Lorin study

PS. If you have not tried the patch, maybe compare your FPS with and without it!

Hey Jamie,

When you feel like you want to start this over again, try this suggestion:

1. turn PC on.
2. run a registry cleaner "Abexo Free Registry Cleaner" it's free and it's great.
3. Restart PC.
4. Install TR09.
5. Launch it, without installing anything. (things should be fine_
6. Close it. Install Patch.
7. Launch TR09 (things should be fine)
8. Close it and restart PC.
9. Launch TR09.
10. Close it and then download one item only from CMP2
11. Launch train. Look for it in Surveyor. (test out the filter in trainz)

You should not experience any issues with these steps ...

Good Luck Young friend,

Thanks Ishie, did it again, still runs slow but not as slow as last time. Still won't use it though unless I get a new computer Smile Sorry I was a little harsh last time, just got a bit annoyed and puzzled why it wasn't running aswell. Thanks for your help Ishie and Lorin Very Happy One thing that did annoy me looking at the objects were that for the first time we had default detailed COMMON cars. Cars like Renault Meganes, Peugeot 206, Citreon C5, BMW318s, BMW Mini Coopers, Audi A3, those awful Smart cars, Old shape Toyota Yaris, Audi 100s, Audi TTs, Skoda Octivias and the list goes on. In other words what I needed for my layouts lol!

Thanks for your help both of you Very Happy

Hi All,
Well I installed 09 this afternoon, couldn't do it earlier as I had a few problems to sort out, unrelated.
Downloaded and installed SP1.
Had to repair the database and re-enter my Auran Details into the 'Options' screen, which was no particular hardship. Spent the past few hours putting it through its paces, both in Surveyor and Driver, and I'm glad to report no noticeable problems, I even added several other loco's and rolling stock to one of the built in routes, to test the frame rate, and so far, its run extremely well,
Set the distance to the max, still OK.
Jamie::::: Sorry your having problems, did you install SP1 to a new, unrun installation of 09.
I remember this issue cropping up with both 04 and 06, installing the patch to a used (even if it was only a test run) in these, caused problems with the installation and the subsequent running. Might be the same with 09, not sure as I installed to a new 09. Fortunately, so far; so good. All I can suggest is a new installation of both, bit of a nuisance I know, but this fixed many a problem with 09's predecessors. Hope this helps a little, or a lot as the case may be.

Cheers All
Pete.

Good advice Pete, fresh patch on a fresh install, could be just what the doctor ordered, a few of my other games I play have had to be done this way with patch releases! Cool

Hi Ishie,
I transferred our project into 09 from 06, without too much hassle, but I've deleted the 09 version until Geophil finishes his update of Transdem. The terrain don't seem to be using the new features of 09 correctly. I'll continue in 06 until the update is ready. I can then transfer the SRTM files directly and copy the texturing from 06. I think this will give a better overall result.
Apart from that, I haven't used 09 much, except for a run-around with the built-in routes, quite impressive so far.
Cheers
Pete.
BTW: Hope you get your version soon.

Hi Ishie,
The only item I had in the transfer was the signals, switches and track. These were the only items on the original 06.
Looking at the built in routes, most of them, if not all, are from previous versions of Trainz, including 06, so I guess whatever you create will be OK.
The only difference, if you want to use the advanced features of 09, you (like myself) will have to start using 'Blender'.
Some say this is easier than Gmax, although, up to now I've only put a few simple buildings together using Blender, so I cant really comment on that.
Anyway:: Carry on with Gmax for now, they will load into 09, via 06.
If your anything like myself, you'll soon be wanting to use the extra facilities in 09, although, I haven't discovered all of these yet.
On a slightly different note, but still with 09, I think anyone who uses the 'Minimum Recommendations' for running 09 will eventually run into trouble, I think they are set much to low. Example::: A few threads on Aurans Forum have stated that it will run on a 64MB Graphic Card. A very basic route with few assets might cope, but going over that will definitely lead to problems. I managed to slow the frame rate (I intended to to this) by placing loads of running rolling stock in one area, and I have a 256 MB card.
Anyway.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Pete.
